The message goes out by itself, and the answer comes back to the calendar
Messages go out straight from the calendar, and every one sent shows on the visit card. The patient gets a link, taps one thing, and the visit changes state in your calendar.
What actually happens
A confirmation on booking, a reminder before the visit
The first message goes when the visit is booked - by you, or by the patient on your booking page. The second goes before the visit itself, at a time you set once for the whole practice.
The reminder by SMS, the confirmation by email
The booking confirmation goes by email, with a calendar entry attached, or by SMS to a patient without an email address. The reminder goes by SMS to anyone with a phone number on file, within the plan's allowance - a patient with no number, or past the allowance, gets it by email.
One link covers one visit and expires with it
The link is not a login and it opens nothing else. It is cryptographically signed for that one visit, so forwarding it will not open somebody else's record or your calendar, and after the visit it stops working.
What the patient sees
A page with one visit on it: when, with whom, what for and where. Buttons underneath - reschedule, cancel, and, if you set it so, confirm. Rescheduling shows every free hour in your schedule. They install nothing and create no account.
Whether the reminder asks for a confirmation is your call. By default it asks only for a reschedule or a cancellation if the patient cannot come. If you would rather collect confirmations, visits with no answer show in your calendar and on Today as unconfirmed. The visit stays booked either way.
Questions
Before how many visits does the subscription remind by SMS?
Solo before 200 visits a month, Team before 400 and Clinic before 800 - a plan counts visits, not messages, with no per-message charge. We email you at 80% of the limit and once you pass it. After that reminders keep going by SMS for a while, then by email; the console lists patients without an email address a day ahead, to be called. Nothing is blocked and nothing is added to your bill. The free plan sends email only.
Does the patient need an account?
No. Everything happens through the link in the text or the email. There is no password, no app and nothing to install.
Can I send a reminder by hand?
Yes, from the visit card, at any time.
